St. John Lutheran Star

Dear Parents,

Food Donations Desperately Needed - Food donations for our Thanksgiving boxes are down this year.  We understand that finances are tight for everyone, but consider donating a few of the items needed for our boxes.  Here are the needed items:  corn, green beans, olives, pickles, yams, fruit cocktail, canned milk, pumpkin, marshmallows, Jell-O, gravy packets, boxed stuffing, roasting pans.  Donated items must be turned in by Thursday morning.

Outdoor Recess - Unless there is water falling from the sky, the students will be going outside for recess.  That is why it is imperative that your student dress appropriately for cold weather.  Please have your students dress in layers or make sure they bring a coat to school.

Christmas Bazaar - Our school will be hosting a Christmas Bazaar on Saturday, December 5th from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.  A flyer went home last week with more information on this event that Nita Lundberg is organizing.  Also, we will be having a baked food sale that day, it is being coordinated by Juliann Seymour.  If you are interested in helping with the Bazaar or would like to donate baked items for us to sell, contact Nita or Juliann.  Their numbers are listed in the Parent Student Directory.

Annual School-Wide Christmas Program - Our school Christmas program will be held at Trail Christian Fellowship.  With the number of students we have, we simply cannot fit all of the family who attend this event in our sanctuary.  The program will be Friday, December 11th at 6:00 p.m.  Please have your child arrive no later than 5:45 p.m. and no earlier than 5:30 p.m.  All classes will be participating, so please mark your calendars.  Tell your family and friends to plan on attending this wonderful event.

Students to Sing at the Rogue Valley Mall - All of our students are invited to sing at the mall on Monday, December 7th at 1:30 p.m.  We will need drivers for the PM Kindergarten through 5th grade students, room Moms will be calling.  We would love to have as many of our PreSchool and PreKindergarten students attend this as possible.  We will be meeting inside the mall in front of Kohl’s at 1:15 p.m.  This is a great warm up for our Christmas program.

Christmas Goodie Bags for Students - Every year our students receive a bag filled with treats after our Christmas Program.  Last year Mrs. Worcester was the mom who volunteered to be in charge of purchasing and filling these bags.  If there is another parent who would be willing to take on this task, please come see Pam Weaver.  I will fill you in on all the particulars.  Thanks.

Christmas Program Costumes - Our school has costumes for our Nativity scene that will be part of the Christmas Program.  Mrs. Smart’s class will be the ones wearing these costumes.  I am looking for a parent who would be willing to take these costumes, make sure they are clean, and hem them with tape for the students who will be wearing them.  We also have angel halos of tinsel and sheep headpieces that need to be tended to.  We need to know if we have enough of each and that they are in usable condition.  If you are interested in this assignment, please let Pam know.

Parent Teacher Conferences - Conferences will be taking place throughout the week.  If you have not scheduled your conference yet, please see your child’s teacher.  If you are unsure of your conference time or need to reschedule, please call the school office between 7:30 a.m. and 3:30 p.m.

Happy Birthday!
